Movie: October Sky

Would you rather watch a movie named October Sky or Rocket Boys? I think I would have chose October Sky, but actually they are the same movie.

The movie October Sky was "Prodigious"! Homer Hickman has really inspired me to be more determined, and never give up on what you are doing no matter how difficult it is. The idea of the film which was based on a true story, was failure is the first step of success.

My favourite character was Quentin, even though he was rejected by everyone, but he stayed true to himself and continued his interest in Science and eventually became very successful.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

I really enjoyed the book Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, it was heart warming but intense,  the plot was very unpredictable. My favourite character of this book was Sirius Black, but I am not going to say the reason for that because that will ruin the surprise J.K Rowing has prepared for you.

Harry was different to everyone else, he hated holidays, because he is once more stuck in his least favourite place of all, number 4 Privet drive. Just imagine being forced to live with relatives that hated you, and insulted you every time they saw you, it would be pretty horrible.

Everyone has an emotion range, Harry was already frustrated, but the arrival of Aunt Marge made things worst, she insulted his parents who died a heroic death protecting him, Harry's extreme anger triggered underage magic, causing Aunt Marge to swell up into a big ballon.

Why wasn't Harry in big trouble for blowing up his Aunt? He felt everyone was keeping something important away from him. But he soon found out..... If you recall why Harry was forced to live with his Aunt, you would wonder how Lord Voldemort found them and killed Harry's parents with protective enchantments surrounding ever corner of their house?

Sirius Black, best friend of James Potter (Harry's father) was responsible for the death of 12 muggles and their good friend Peter Pettigrew, he betrayed the Potters at the last second and revealed their location to Lord Voldemort. But most importantly, he escaped from the wizard prison, Azkaban, rumoured to finish what he started, finding Harry and killing him. But things became complicated when Peter's name appeared on the Marauder's Map.

Was Sirius Black, godfather of Harry Potter, really the murderer of the Potters? Was he innocent after all?

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

I read the book Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secret, it was as good as the first one, another incredible creation by J.K Rowling. The plot was very interesting, I could not take my hands of it until I have finished reading it.

Harry Potter and his friends is returning to Hogwarts School Witchcraft and Wizardry for their second year of magical education. Harry received a fishy warning from the house-elf named Dobby, warning him not to go back to school because there is a plot to kill Harry. Dobby blocked the magical barrier leading to the train to Hogwarts, instead, Harry and his best friend Ron arrived at Hogwarts in a magical flying car. Muggle-borns are being petrified around the school, soon, Harry discovered he could speak Parseltongue, many people believed he was the heir of Slytherine and he had opened the Chamber of Secrets, controlling the giant basilisk living in it to petrify and kill. Ron's younger sister was brought down to the Chamber of Secrets.

Who is actually behind all this horror? Will Harry and Ron survive the deadly battle against the giant basilisk?

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

I read the book 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' in the holidays, this book was the start of the phenomenon of the Harry Potter series by J.K Rowling. The setting and the development of the characters has really interested me. My favourite character in the book was Neville Longbottom, his courage and determination has inspired me to face the problems in life instead of avoiding them.

The book was about a boy named Harry Potter discovering the that he was a wizard, he was not just any wizard, he was the reason that Lord Voldemort, the evilest wizard of the time has disappeared. Harry was taken to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to study magic. Voldemort was gone, but not dead, he was seeking a way to gain power again, he was after the Philosopher's Stone, which has the great power of Elixir of life. Harry Potter came across a deadly battle with Voldemort along with the help of his best friends Hermione and Ron.

Just imagine if you were told that you were a wizard or a witch and is invited to attend Hogwarts? How cool would that be!

Stand By Me

After watching the American film 'Stand by Me' filmed in 1986, I found the film very inspiring and moving.

I really liked one of the characters, his name was Teddy Duchamp. Even though he has a messed up family, his father nearly burnt one of his ears off, he still has a positive personality and he always defended his father if anyone insulted him, he was loyal and helpful to his friends.

I enjoyed the part in the film when the boys were stranded in the forest, because it was very moving how they helped each other even though it meant putting them selves in danger,  they thought positive through out the journey. There was many funny moments as well, which I really liked.

The ending was interesting, it shows how important friendships are. You should cherish friendship and life.

The Hunger Games

When I read The Hunger Games, I instantly fell in love with the trilogy, I couldn't stop reading. The Hunger Games was heart stopping , it seems like a dark version of the future world. The author Suzanne Collins wrote the book in an interesting style, which I really liked. The author's use of words was so accurate that it made me feel like I was in the story, in the Hunger Games, fighting to the death. The Hunger Games was amazing as the author of The Twilight Saga Stephenie Meyer said as well. If you read it, hope you like it! :)
